From time to time, as we go through life, we run across certain gems of thought that help us to understand things about life, living and helps us understand who we are in ways like we never saw them before.

This book is a collection of thoughts and short stories that have helped me to see and understand the Lord and my calling more clearly. Each week I would write a mini message to the saints in the world and put them in the Sunday bulletin. They are not formal studies but are meant to encourage the reader in their walk with God.

The cover photograph was taken by Sebastian P. Saarloos in Alaska on December 2, 2013. You can view more of his photographs on Facebook. When asked about the photograph Sebastian said, "A truck drove by lighting up the trees when I was taking this long exposure photograph of the stars."

Some folks will ask, who is Pastor Sam? I can say I am just an ordinary man who has been blessed by an extraordinary God. Or as the Bible says it, "I am a mist which appears for a little while then disappears back to where all the other mists go." The content of this book reveals a good portion of who I am and the things I have learned along the way to my disappearance.

Here is a summary of my relationship with the Lord. After receiving Jesus, I felt a great joy replacing sadness. The next morning the joy was still there. I didn't know what was supposed to happen. I just wanted to tell everyone about this amazing experience. Something in me had changed, and I wanted everyone to have this experience. People were talking about me being different then Pastor Ian Sakai, a Baptist pastor from my children's preschool met with me. He told me what happened to me was what the bible called being born again. He then opened his entire study library to me so I could study the scriptures and understand more clearly. I would study the word and apply it in my life then teach what I learned at various bible studies. I will ever be grateful for Pastor Ian. He can be likened to the one who fed me when I was hungry and gave me water when I was thirsty.
